Laura Looijen
Laura Looijen is a beginning soft sculpture artist based in Rotterdam. She is fascinated by speculative biology and extraterrestrial life. The creepiness of aliens, insects and deep-sea creatures inspired her to make large fluffy sculptures out of textile. She intends to change the relationship between humans and these sorts of creatures. By making them large and soft they become less scary and more kind and welcoming. Fear can become fascination. With a background as an integrated product designer (TU Delft) Laura made the creatures using a variety of techniques from 3D-sculpting to hand stitching.
